Yura Jang is a pianist renowned for her refined sensitivity and profound interpretive insight. With exceptional skills in accompaniment and opera coaching, she is highly regarded for her versatility across a wide vocal and instrumental repertoire and her musical communication on stage. From traditional classical music to contemporary and experimental works, she actively performs in a wide range of genres, developing her artistic voice across the global stage, based primarily in New York City.
Yura has distinguished herself especially in opera coaching, contributing to productions such as Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Le nozze di Figaro, Puccini’s La Bohème, Verdi’s Rigoletto, Bizet’s Carmen, and Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore. Her performance in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with vocal soloists further highlights her deep musical understanding and sensitivity to vocal collaboration.
She is currently serving as an Opera Coach at the Toledo Opera House in Ohio, having signed a professional engagement for the 2025–2026 season—a significant milestone affirming her growing impact in the field. Yura recently won the Grand Prize at the 2024 UK International Music Competition and First Prize at the LAKMA Foundation Competition, receiving a scholarship in recognition of her outstanding musical achievement. She has captivated audiences at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Steinway Hall, the German Consulate General in New York, and WQXR, New York’s premier classical music radio station.
A vibrant presence in the New York music scene, Yura collaborates widely with vocalists, instrumentalists, and ensembles, exploring a broad spectrum of classical and contemporary works. She has served as the principal pianist for Target Margin Musical Theater in Brooklyn, delivering compelling performances in innovative theatrical settings, and as the main pianist for the New York Flute Club Competition, where her musical precision and sensitivity were highly praised. She is also a passionate educator at the Mannes Prep School, where she teaches and mentors young music students, successfully guiding them through recitals and public performances with expertise and care.
Yura is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano at the Mannes School of Music in New York City under the mentorship of Cristina Stanescu. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from the University of Seoul in South Korea.
