Ha Sora, a gayageum player and vocalist, is an artist who weaves together the profound resonance of Korean traditional music with a modern sensibility. With academic backgrounds in Korean music and political diplomacy, she has established herself as a cultural-diplomacy-driven artist, expanding the gayageum beyond a traditional instrument into a cultural language that communicates with the world.
Ha Sora has collaborated across genres such as classical, jazz, world music, magic, flamenco, salsa, and pole dance, reinterpreting Korean tradition through a contemporary lens. Her music resonates deeply with listeners, marked by delicate yet powerful gayageum performances and a clear, heartfelt voice.
She has performed in more than 15 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Japan, and Vietnam, actively showcasing her artistry on international stages. Her appearances on major global media outlets such as BBC, KBS, and UBS, along with international collaborations, have introduced the possibilities of Korean traditional music to the world.
Ha Sora’s work goes beyond preserving tradition. With her vision of “diplomacy through the gayageum,” she redefines the role of Korean music in today’s cultural landscape. Through her first album, featuring the reinterpreted folk songs “Han Oh Baek Nyeon” (Yearning for Timeless Love) and “Poong Nyeon Ga” (Song of Abundance), she aims to establish the roots of Korean culture within the global music landscape.
