Jooyoung Florian Chang (b. 1997) is a
pianist and conductor with a broad
and diverse artistic profile. He has
conducted various orchestras across
Europe and Korea, including the
London Symphony Orchestra,
ORF Vienna Radio Symphony
Orchestra, the Prague Radio
Symphony Orchestra, the New World
Symphony Orchestra, the Sofia
Philharmonic Orchestra –
as well as numerous other ensembles
of varying artistic character.
He was also invited by the Daejeon
Cosmopolitan Music Festival in Korea
to conduct and present a program of
works by Arnold Schoenberg.
In addition to his symphonic work, he
has gained extensive experience in the
field of opera, serving as a repetiteur and
assistant conductor in various
productions, and taking on the musical
direction of Humperdinck’s Hänsel und
Gretel.
Jooyoung Florian Chang completed both
his first and second diplomas in
orchestral conducting at the University
of Music and Performing Arts Vienna
(mdw) under Prof. Mark Stringer, both
with distinction. In recognition of his
outstanding achievements, he was
awarded the "mdw Prize of Honour
2025". He also worked at the university
as a student assistant to Prof. Sian
Edwards. He received further artistic
Inspiration through masterclasses with
Marin Alsop, Petr Popelka, Stéphane
Denève, Johannes Schlaefli, and other
distinguished mentors.
He has also worked as an assistant
conductor with Martin Haselböck and
Daniel Linton-France.
Previously, he studied piano at the
University of Music and Performing
Arts Graz with Prof. Zuzanna
Niederdorfer. He is a prizewinner of
several international piano competitions
– including in Padua, Rome, and
St. Petersburg – and was
recognized by EMCY (European Union
of Music Competitions for Youth) as a
“Young Artist”. He received his
bachelor’s degree in piano performance
with distinction.

Jooyoung Florian Chang, geboren 1997,
ist Pianist und Dirigent mit einem breit
gefächerten künstlerischen Profil.
Er dirigierte verschiedene Orchester in
Europa und Korea, darunter das London
Symphony Orchestra, ORF Radio-
Symphonieorchester Wien (RSO),
das Prager Rundfunkorchester, das
Savaria Symphonieorchester, das Sofia
Philharmonic Orchestra, die Beethoven
Philharmonie Baden bei Wien und das
Bucharest Symphony Orchestra – sowie
weitere Orchester unterschiedlichster
Prägung.
Eine Einladung des Daejeon
Cosmopolitan Music Festival in Korea
ermöglichte ihm die Leitung und
Moderation eines Programms mit
Werken von Arnold Schönberg. Neben
seiner Tätigkeit im sinfonischen Bereich
sammelte er umfassende Erfahrung in
der Oper – unter anderem als
Korrepetitor und Assistent, wobei er auch
die musikalische Leitung von
Humperdincks „Hänsel und Gretel“
übernahm.
Sein erstes und zweites Diplom in
Orchesterleitung absolvierte Jooyoung
Florian Chang an der Universität für
Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien
(mdw) bei Prof. Mark Stringer, jeweils
mit Auszeichnung. Für seine
herausragenden Leistungen wurde er
mit dem Würdigungspreis 2025 der
mdw ausgezeichnet. Darüber hinaus
war er an der mdw als Studienassistent
von Prof. Sian Edwards tätig.
Weitere künstlerische Impulse erhielt
er in Meisterkursen bei Marin Alsop,
Petr Popelka, Stéphane Denève und
Johannes Schlaefli sowie weiteren
internationalen Lehrpersönlichkeiten.
Als Assistent arbeitete er mit Martin
Haselböck und Daniel Linton-France
zusammen.
Zuvor studierte er Klavier an der
Kunstuniversität Graz bei Prof. Zuzanna
Niederdorfer. Er ist mehrfacher
Preisträger internationaler Wettbewerbe
– unter anderem in Padua, Rom und
St. Petersburg – und wurde von der
EMCY (European Union of Music
Competitions for Youth) als
„Young Artist“ ausgezeichnet.
Auch seinen Bachelorabschluss
in Klavier erhielt er mit Auszeichnung.

지휘자이자 피아니스트인 장주영은 유럽과
한국에서 다양한 오케스트라를 지휘하며
활동을 이어가고 있다. 런던 심포니
오케스트라, 빈 ORF 라디오 심포니
오케스트라, 프라하 라디오 심포니
오케스트라, 뉴월드 심포니 오케스트라,
소피아 필하모닉 오케스트라 등과
무대에 올랐으며, 제 24회 대전
국제음악제에 초청되어 아르놀트 쇤베르크
작품을 해설과 지휘를 맡으며 음악적
스펙트럼을 넓혔다.
또한 오페라 분야에서도 훔퍼딩크의
"헨젤과 그레텔"을 비롯한 다양한
프로덕션에 오페라 코치 및 부지휘자로
참여하며 실무 경험을 쌓았다.
mdw(빈 국립음악대학) 에서
Mark Stringer 교수에게 사사받으며
지휘과 학사와 석사과정을 모두 최우수
성적으로 졸업했다. 그 성과를 인정받아
mdw Prize of Honour (최우수 졸업자
명예상)을 수상했으며, 재학 중에는
Sian Edwards 교수의 조교로서
레슨에 반주자로 참여하며 지휘
교육 현장을 가까이에서 경험했다.
Marin Alsop, Petr Popelka, Stéphane
Denève, Johannes Schlaefli 등의
마스터클래스를 통해 다양한 음악적
시야를 넓혔고, Martin Haselböck,
Daniel Linton-France와는 부지휘자로
함께 작업하며 현장 경험을 쌓았다.
그라츠 국립음악대학에서는 Zuzana
Niederdorfer 교수에게 피아노를 사사했다.
재학 중 파두아, 로마, 상트페테르부르크
등에서 열린 국제 피아노 콩쿠르에서
입상했고, 유럽연합 청소년 음악콩쿠르
연합 (EMCY)으로부터 “Young Artist”로
선정되었으며, 학사 과정 역시 최우수
성적으로 마쳤다.
