Recently winning 3rd prize at the Epinal International Piano Competition and Leoš Janáček International Competition in Brno, In-Ae Ha has been praised as a passionate pianist with “new and radiant interpretation, brilliant virtuosity and driving energy” (Chosun Newspaper Concert Review). Her ultimate goal is to elevate the souls of the listeners through music the composers of the past have left us, the greatest creation of humanity. She has performed venues such as Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, Tokyo University of Arts Concert Hall, Seoul Arts Center, Kumho Art Hall, Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, Besední dům of Filharmonie Brno, La Rotonde Thaon les Vosges.
At the age of 10, Ha won 2nd prize at the Chopin Youth Piano Competition, won the Young Artist Competition (association of the Louisville Orchestra) and Cincinnati Young Artist Concerto Competition, and was featured on NPR Classical Radio Program “From the Top”. She performed Mozart and Mendelssohn Concertos with the Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra and the Louisville Orchestra and was invited to give recitals at Comstock Concert Hall and the Center Theatre of University of Kentucky.
In South Korea, In-Ae won the 6th International Piano Competition of Korea, Grand Prize at the Eumak Journal Competition of Korea, and was Finalist at the Seoul Arts Center Music Academy and Competition. She was nominated to perform at the Chosunilbo Debut Concert series at Sejong Chamber Hall in Seoul and recently gave a recital at the newly opened Hermann Art Hall in the Rising Star Concert Series, presented by MOC Production.
An avid chamber musician, Ha won Silver Medal at the Seoul Youth Chamber competition and participated multiple occasions at the July Festival for the well-known House Concert Series in Korea. She continues her interest in chamber music by performing duo concerts with cellist David Caplan around the United States, engaging in many community outreach concerts such as Gifts of Art at the University of Michigan Hospital, Glacier Hills Ann Arbor Outreach Concert. The duo will have recitals at the Detroit Steinway Gallery, Semans Violin in Skokie Illinois, Bloomfield Township Public Library Concert Series in Spring 2023.
While pursuing her bachelor and master’s degree at the Korea National University of Arts, Ha received scholarship for outstanding music students, which provides full tuition. She studied with Minsoo Sohn and Daejin Kim. Currently, she is pursuing her second master’s degree at the University of Michigan while awarded a merit-based scholarship which also offers full tuition. She is under the tutelage of Arthur Greene, who has shaped and inspired the artist she is today.
Born in Seoul, Korea but raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Ha returns to Kentucky frequently to share music with her community whenever she is back home from Ann Arbor, where she is currently based.
