"Soprano Rachel Sungmin Goh began her musical training at Yewon School and the Seoul Arts High School in South Korea. She went on to complete both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Voice at Sookmyung Women’s University, graduating at the top of her class under the guidance of Hyun-Ju Park. She later continued her studies in the United States, earning her Master of Music in Voice Performance from Boston University under Dr. Lynn Eustis.
Rachel has been recognized with 2nd Prize in the Music Education Newspaper Competition and appeared as a soloist in the 85th Annual Regular Concert of Sookmyung Women’s University.
Her operatic experience includes roles such as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Nora in Riders to the Sea, Presendia in Dark Sisters, and Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica. She has also performed in Cendrillon, La clemenza di Tito, and El Caminante in both principal and ensemble capacities.
In 2024, she recorded the opera El Caminante by Eduardo Sanchez de Fuentes with the Boston University Opera Institute & Symphony Orchestra. The album was officially released on Apple Music in 2025 and is now available for streaming.
Rachel is currently a Young Artist with the Western Vocal Association, and she will begin the Professional Studies Certificate program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2026."
"소프라노 고성민(Rachel Sungmin Goh) 은 예원학교와 서울예술고등학교에서 음악 교육을 시작하였으며, 숙명여자대학교 성악과에서 학사와 석사 학위를 취득하고 박현주 교수의 지도 아래 실기수석으로 졸업하였다. 이후 미국으로 유학하여 Boston University에서 Dr. Lynn Eustis를 사사하며 성악 석사 학위를 취득하였다.
고성민은 음악교육신문사 콩쿠르에서 2위를 수상하였으며, 숙명여자대학교 제 85회 정기연주회에서 협연자로 발탁되어 솔리스트로 무대에 섰다.
오페라 무대에서 그녀는 Mozart <Così fan tutte>의 Fiordiligi를 비롯하여 <Don Giovanni>의 Zerlina, R. Vaughan Williams의 <Riders to the Sea>의 Nora, Nico Muhly의 <Dark Sisters>의 Presendia, Puccini <Suor Angelica>의 Suor Genovieffa, Massenet <Cendrillon>, Mozart <La clemenza di Tito>, Eduardo Sanchez de Fuentes <El Caminante> 등에서 주역 및 앙상블로 출연하며 다양한 작품 활동을 이어왔다.
2024년에는 Boston University Opera Institute & Symphony Orchestra와 함께 Eduardo Sanchez de Fuentes의 오페라 <El Caminante>를 음반으로 녹음하였으며, 이 앨범은 2025년 Apple Music을 통해 정식 발매되어 현재 스트리밍으로 감상할 수 있다.
현재 그녀는 웨스턴성악협회(Western Vocal Association)의 영 아티스트(Young Artist)로 활동 중이며, 2026년부터 San Francisco Conservatory of Music의 전문 연주자과정(Professional Studies Certificate)에 진학할 예정이다."
