Tenor Eric Jongyoung Kim graduated from Busan Arts High School and was admitted to the Department of Vocal Music at Hanyang University as the top student, eventually graduating at the top of his class, establishing himself as a promising talent early on. During his studies, he trained under Professor Woo-Kyung Kim, building a solid musical foundation. After graduation, he pursued further studies in Germany, completing the Master’s program in Vocal Music at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt under Prof. Michelle Breedt with the highest distinction, and subsequently completing the Doctoral program in Vocal Music at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg under Prof. Torsten Meyer with honors, further consolidating his artistic and academic foundation as a professional vocalist.
Demonstrating his abilities as a soloist from an early stage, he performed leading roles in numerous operas while at Hanyang University. Notably, he appeared as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore - G.Donizetti, Ferrando in Così fan tutte - W.A.Mozart, Il Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto - G.Verdi, and Alfredo in the open-air production of La Traviata - G.Verdi celebrating the 80th anniversary of Hanyang University, establishing his musical and dramatic skills. At the same time, he received 3rd prize at the Buil Singing Competition, 3rd prize at the Suri National Singing Competition, and a Special Prize at the Eom Jeonghaeng Singing Competition, gaining objective recognition for his abilities and laying a strong foundation for expanding his career internationally.
While studying in Germany, he began his European soloist career at the world-renowned 'Bregenzer Festspiele' in Austria, and appeared as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore at the Junge Oper Schloss Weikersheim, earning acclaim for “a lyric tenor with a soft and expressive voice, well trained in bel canto. His voice carries effortlessly over the orchestra, singing flawless Italian, demonstrating excellent piano and messa di voce technique, always conveying deep emotion.” He later joined the Opernstudio NRW (Theater Dortmund, Aalto Theater Essen, Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, Oper Wuppertal) for the 23/24 and 24/25 seasons, performing a wide range of leading and supporting roles, and was a member of the Oper Wuppertal ensemble for the 25/26 season. Additionally, he has performed as a guest soloist at Oper Frankfurt, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Landestheater Detmold, Stadttheater Gießen, and Theater Nordhausen.
His opera repertoire includes Don Ottavio<Don Giovanni>, Ferrando<Così fan tutte>, Il Conte d’Almaviva<Il Barbiere di Siviglia>, Osiride<Mosè in Egitto>, Cavalier Belfiore<Il viaggio a Reims>, Nemorino<L’elisir d’amore>, Edoardo di Sanval<Un Giorno di regno>, Il Duca di Mantova<Rigoletto> and Alfredo<La Traviata>. His concert repertoire spans from Bach cantatas to works by Beethoven, Rossini, Saint-Saëns, Verdi, Puccini, Stravinsky, and Honegger.
He was awarded 3rd prize at the Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico – Fausto Ricci, marking the beginning of recognition on the international stage, and he is expected to continue expanding his career and artistic growth.
테너 김종영은 부산예술고등학교를 졸업한 뒤 한양대학교 성악과에 수석 입학 및 수석 졸업하며 일찍이 두각을 나타냈다. 재학 중 김우경 교수를 사사하며 탄탄한 음악적 기반을 다졌고, 졸업 후 독일로 유학하여 프랑크푸르트 국립음대(Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt) 성악과 석사과정(사사: Prof. Michelle Breedt)을 최고점으로 졸업했으며, 이어 프라이부르크 국립음대(Hochschule für Musik Freiburg) 성악과 박사과정(사사: Prof. Torsten Meyer)을 우수한 성적으로 마치며 전문 성악가로서의 예술적·학문적 기반을 더욱 견고히 했다.
솔리스트로서의 역량을 재학 시절부터 발휘한 그는 한양대학교 재학 중 다양한 오페라의 주역을 맡아 활동했다. 특히 <L’elisir d’amore – G. Donizetti>의 Nemorino, <Così fan tutte – W. A. Mozart>의 Ferrando, <Rigoletto – G. Verdi>의 Il Duca di Mantova, 개교 80주년 기념 노천극장 야외오페라 <La Traviata – G. Verdi>의 Alfredo 역 등을 소화하며 기량을 증명했고, 그와 동시에 부일성악콩쿠르 3위, 수리전국성악콩쿠르 3위, 엄정행 성악콩쿨 특별상 등을 수상하며 실력을 객관적으로 인정받았고, 이후 해외로 무대를 넓히는 데 든든한 밑거름이 되었다.
독일에서 그는 오스트리아의 세계적인 페스티벌 ‘Bregenzer Festspiele(브레겐츠 페스티벌)’에서 솔리스트로 활동을 시작했고, ‘Junge Oper Schloss Weikersheim’에서 <L’elisir d’amore>의 Nemorino 역으로 출연해 “벨칸토로 잘 훈련된 부드럽고 서정적인 목소리의 테너. 오케스트라를 넘어설 때 전혀 문제가 없으며, 흠잡을 곳 없는 이탈리아어로 노래한다. 좋은 피아노와 메사 디 보체를 보여주며, 그의 목소리는 언제나 감정을 표현한다”는 호평을 받으며 유럽 무대에 데뷔했다. 이후 Opernstudio NRW(Theater Dortmund, Aalto Theater Essen, Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, Oper Wuppertal) 멤버로 23/24, 24/25 시즌 동안 다양한 주·조역을 맡았으며, 25/26 시즌에는 Oper Wuppertal 앙상블 멤버로 활동했다. 또한 Oper Frankfurt, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Landestheater Detmold, Stadttheater Gießen, Theater Nordhausen 등에서 객원 솔리스트로 활약했으며, 주요 오페라 레퍼토리로 Don Ottavio<Don Giovanni>, Ferrando<Così fan tutte>, Il Conte d’Almaviva<Il Barbiere di Siviglia>, Osiride<Mosè in Egitto>, Cavalier Belfiore<Il viaggio a Reims>, Nemorino<L’elisir d’amore>, Edoardo di Sanval<Un Giorno di regno>, Il Duca di Mantova<Rigoletto>, Alfredo<La Traviata>와 함께 Bach의 칸타타부터 Beethoven, Rossini, Saint-Saëns, Verdi, Puccini, Stravinsky, Honegger 등에 이르는 폭넓은 콘서트/오라토리오 레퍼토리를 보유하고 있다.
그는 국제 콩쿠르 Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico–Fausto Ricci에서의 3위 수상을 시작으로 국제무대에서도 기량을 인정받아 앞으로 더욱 활발한 활동과 성장을 이어갈 예정이다.
